High resolution lenses for machine vision — standard and custom lens design
Robots In The Olympics?
High Resolution Lenses for machine vision, instrumentation, inspection and vibration-sensitive applications. Standard and custom hi-res lens assemblies.
Robots are starting to make their way into daily activities. In fact, as Tokyo hosts the 2020 Olympic Games, the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is hoping to include a Robot Olympics to showcase advances in robotic technology. “In 2020, I would like to gather all of the world’s robots and aim to hold an Olympics where they compete in technical skills,” he said.
Exactly how they would compete in an Olympic event is yet undetermined but might involve things such as climbing a ladder or other tasks that would be helpful in the aftermath of a natural disaster. Using these Olympic-style events, the Prime Minister hopes to jumpstart Japan’s economy and increase production in the robotics industry, currently valued at $24 billion USD.
Hitachi and Toshiba have unveiled robots capable of helping engineers in radioactive protecting thei human counterparts from the radioactive materials. Elsewhere, Japanese engineers at Wakata are testing a small robot who is operating on the International Space Station as they experiment with a robot as a companion for the elderly or those who live alone. As technology advances, robotics will be more widely used in a variety of applications.
