BMW was the first high-end European auto manufacturer to identify and use infrared technology to make driving at night safer.
Driving at night can be very difficult for many people however, BMW ‘s Night Vision technology makes it much more safe and comfortable to drive at night. This technology helps drivers to more easily see pedestrians on the side of the road and identify potential hazards and obstacles in your path.
This technology uses an infrared camera with a 36 degree wide-angle lens which is up to three times wider than other systems. With its added width, pedestrians, animals and other obstacles show up as bright shapes as the camera picks up the heat of the object. In addition, it’s easier to identify obstacles when driving on winding roads, into dark driveways and garages.
The image is displayed on a camera alerting drivers when up to nearly a quarter of a mile. At higher speeds, this can be especially useful and an This added feature making it much safer for drivers to navigate in nighttime conditions.
