High resolution lenses for machine vision — standard and custom lens design
CMOS Camera Lenses Provide Low Cost Video
High Resolution Lenses for machine vision, instrumentation, inspection and vibration-sensitive applications. Standard and custom hi-res lens assemblies.
In the mid 90’s the first digital color CMOS lens camera was unveiled at a consumer electronics show in Las Vegas. The initial reaction was expressed with excitement based around the new functionality and opportunities ahead. With the focus initially being personal usages such as computers, and business video conferencing, the device claimed to provide 15 frames per second with a resolution of about 160 x 120 pixels.
The initial color the CMOS lenses focused on were based around colored filters which would detect a single primary color and digitally send the image back for processing; these primary colors the were red, green, and blue. At that time, the initial advantage of a CMOS lens based camera compared to the more common, at that time, CCD based system included lower overall costs. These costs included the power requirements along with the integrated parts and camera functionalities, which became cheaper as processor chips and sensors became integrated into one.
Today CMOS security systems are as common as household motion lighting and can be used via smart phones to detect what is happening in live time around your property. With the press of a button, the ability for consumers to now detect not only motion but also possibly facial recognition in the near future allows for peace of mind for homeowners seeking security and privacy.
For all custom CMOS lenses and custom lens assemblies, Universe Optics provides full capabilities from concept to prototype.
