Crosstalk

Crosstalk

As defined by Wikipedia, crosstalk is any phenomenon by which a signal transmitted on one circuit or channel of a transmission system creates an undesired effect in another circuit or channel. Crosstalk is usually caused by undesired capacitive, inductive, or conductive coupling from one circuit, part of a circuit, or channel, to another.

In other words, during image sensor design, the ability to reduce crosstalk in small pixels has become one of the most difficult and time consuming tasks because of the ability for photons to be falsely sensed by other pixels around it. In modern CMOS and CCD lenses, components are routinely built into the lenses to help reduce the amount of crosstalk between image sensors.

There are many examples of crosstalk in different industry applications such as telecommunication or telephony along with audio system measurements and wireless communication and integrated circuit designs. As technology progresses, the interference caused by other imaging or other electromagnetic interference will be reduced.
